So...who/what is eMarketHawaii? And what's with the car parts?

Well, let's start at the very beginning. This story began more than 11 years ago, when two high school students crossed paths in Japan. Jon was a homestay student from Hawaii and Takashi was the friend who served as the translator. Fun times, great experiences, but it all ends after a month and the two go their separate ways.

Fast forward to summer 2007. Jon visits Japan and re-unites with Takashi. Both are working in the IT field, but also have a passion for new business opportunities. eMarketHawaii, as you know it today, was born (or re-born if you're one of Jon's pre-2007 customers).

eMarketHawaii is both a company name and a concept. The goal: market Hawaii products to the online world. The main weapon of choice: online auctions. Our reach spans two continents on both eBay USA and Yahoo! Japan auctions. And if you're reading this then you know we're making our website e-commerce ready.

Prior to the partnership formation, Jon has been selling rare car parts from Japan for more than 5 years. He has built up a large list of customers from all over the world and takes pride in his customer service approach. What first started as a hobby has turned into a complicated mess, but he loves every minute of it.

Born and raised in Maui, Jon now lives in Oahu with his smart physician wife, Traci,  and lovable dog, Brody. In his spare time he muses about the workings of eMarketHawaii.  A Powerseller on eBay for several years, he has been selling Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) car parts locally and globally. He also serves a small supplier for a car shop in Honolulu.

As a University of Hawaii business major during the dot-com years Jon has seen the evolution of the online marketplace. Business concepts that previously confused him are now making sense and put into practice with his online sales. He hopes that eMarketHawaii can become bigger than he ever imagined.

Takashi

ImageTakashi also hails from humble beginnings, coming from Saga Prefecture where the words 'country' and 'rice fields' serve as accurate descriptions. When he's not spending time with his wife and two lovely daughters, he is the eMarketHawaii agent in Japan. He also excels at creating homepages and is the webmaster of japan.emarkethawaii.com.

His understanding of both Japanese and English makes him an invaluable part of the team. 日本語を話しますか? Talk to Takashi.
